Dental Marketing in Maryland
Maryland's published program is Baltimore, and that metro is nearly half the state. Residents in the July 2025 release total about 6.27 million, about 1.4 percent over the April 2020 figure near 6.18 million. Baltimore-Columbia-Towson, CBSA 12580, stands at about 2.86 million, about 0.3 percent over the 2020 figure near 2.85 million. That share is about 45.6 percent of Maryland. Another block of Marylanders, about 2.52 million, is assigned to the Washington metro instead.
University of Maryland School of Dentistry sits in Baltimore. Weekday schedules often trace to Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland Medical System, Fort Meade and the NSA, the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Aberdeen Proving Ground, or BWI. What follows is a Beltway plan for search, Business Profiles, paid search, the practice website, and reviews, limited to counties inside CBSA 12580. Start with the Baltimore metro program. Baltimore
home of the dental school
University of Maryland School of Dentistry is in the city, inside this MSA, unlike markets that import every graduate.
Inside CBSA 12580, Baltimore County is about 848,000, down about 0.8 percent; Baltimore city is about 570,000, down about 2.7 percent; Anne Arundel is about 603,000, up about 1.8 percent; Howard is about 339,000, up about 2.1 percent; Harford is about 266,000, up about 2.1 percent; Carroll is about 177,000, up about 2.2 percent; Queen Anne's is about 54,400, up about 9.2 percent. Maryland counties in the Washington metro, CBSA 47900, total about 2.52 million: Montgomery about 1.07 million, Prince George's about 970,000, Frederick about 303,000, and Charles about 177,000. Cecil County, about 107,000, is the Maryland piece of the Philadelphia metro. Every count here is a Vintage 2025 Census estimate dated July 2025, measured from April 2020 bases.
Searches Along the Baltimore Beltway
Interstates inside the MSA
The road name is how many of these households search:
- I-95 through the city: the spine past downtown and toward BWI. A city pin and an airport-area pin are not the same search
- I-695 Beltway: Towson, Pikesville, Catonsville, and Glen Burnie are typed as their own towns
- I-83: the north road into Baltimore County, where a Towson query should not inherit downtown wording
- I-97 to Annapolis: Anne Arundel and the state-capital side of this MSA, a different map from Howard County
- US 29 and Columbia: Howard County's planned city. Patients type Columbia, not Baltimore
- BWI: the airport workforce in Anne Arundel. Mention it when those households already sit on the schedule
Towson wording and Columbia wording should not match. Say which side of the Beltway that door fills.
Frederick, Washington, and Cecil
Edges of the state that are easy to buy by accident:
- MARC Penn and Camden lines: rail lines toward Washington. A station-area office can name its stop, not the whole line
- I-70 toward Frederick: Frederick County is outside CBSA 12580. It is about 303,000 people, up about 11.5 percent, and it belongs with the Washington metro
- Washington metro counties: Montgomery, Prince George's, Frederick, and Charles together are about 2.52 million Maryland residents
- Harford and Aberdeen: Harford County is about 266,000, inside this MSA, with Aberdeen Proving Ground on the schedule for some offices
- Queen Anne's: the Eastern Shore county still inside CBSA 12580, about 54,400 people, up about 9.2 percent
- Cecil County: about 107,000 people, and it sits in the Philadelphia metro, not in Baltimore. See that program only for this county
The Washington-area counties are covered on the Washington, DC metro program. Cecil County context lives on the Philadelphia metro program.
How a Baltimore Map Should Be Drawn
-
Step 1
One pin for each Beltway address
Towson, Columbia, Annapolis, Glen Burnie, Bel Air, and a Baltimore city block share a metro of about 2.86 million without sharing a pin. The service-area field should name neighborhoods that door already sees. Listing every I-695 exit on a single profile makes the listing look like a directory.
-
Step 2
Put the exit and the county in the copy
Canton, Towson, Columbia, Annapolis, Bel Air, and Catonsville show up on intake forms, and each spelling belongs on that door's page and in its own campaign. Howard County language will not satisfy an Anne Arundel search. A city page will not satisfy Columbia.
-
Step 3
Print CareFirst and Delta Dental when you take them
Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland Medical System, Fort Meade and the NSA, the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Aberdeen Proving Ground, and BWI account for many of the insurance cards at the desk. When the office participates, print CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and Delta Dental beside a new-patient note and a booking link.
-
Step 4
Keep the ad map inside the counties you treat
CBSA 12580 holds about 45.6 percent of Maryland and barely moved, about 0.3 percent from the 2020 figure near 2.85 million. Baltimore County fell about 0.8 percent and Baltimore city fell about 2.7 percent, while Queen Anne's rose about 9.2 percent. Frederick, outside this MSA, rose about 11.5 percent. Buying Montgomery, Prince George's, or Cecil spends money on visits that will not show up. Set Google Ads to the zips already producing appointments, then drop zips that call logs show never book. Leave I-70 and Cecil out unless those households are already patients.
-
Step 5
Ask while the patient is still in the chair
One sentence from the coordinator, and a reply approved before Friday, is enough. Attach the review to that door's Google profile. A brand listing that tries to speak for every Maryland county does not help the Beltway pin.
Separate URLs Inside One Baltimore Brand
A Columbia flagship plus Towson, Annapolis, or a city suite is not one local listing. Do not merge those doors onto a single Google Business Profile or a single location URL. The brand story can live on the main site. Each street address gets a spoke page that lists hours, phone, and the corridor words for that office.
Send each ad group to the spoke that can actually seat the patient. An I-70 search or a Cecil County search belongs on a door that already treats those zips. It should not rotate through the whole group, and it should not sit inside one statewide radius. See marketing for dental groups with several offices and how a multi-office site builds a page per address.

Local SEO
Write separate pages for Towson, Columbia, Annapolis, Bel Air, Glen Burnie, and the city neighborhoods already in the schedule. Add Frederick or Cecil only after the book shows those visits.
More on local seo →Google Ads
Split the account by side of the region: I-83 with Towson, US 29 with Columbia, I-97 with Annapolis, I-95 with BWI. Do not let a Columbia query pay for a downtown click this office will never see.
More on google ads →Websites
Sites that load quickly on a phone and say, in plain words, whether the office participates in CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and Delta Dental. Hours and the booking step stay visible.
More on websites →Reviews and reputation
A repeating ask at checkout and replies in the same week, posted on the Google profile that Towson, Columbia, or city patients actually open.
More on reviews and reputation →Social media
Photos of the team and the block, so a household connected to Johns Hopkins, a federal campus, or BWI can recognize the office.

Shared brand files, then a mailer or a sign that swaps if Columbia, Towson, or Annapolis gets its own address.

There is no DDS Web Solutions office in Maryland. Staff in Sacramento and in San Mateo produce the pages, the media, and the reporting for Baltimore. We date the team's website work to 2014, and the published count is 100+ practices served.
The Baltimore clock is Eastern and runs three hours ahead of California. A late Pacific morning still reaches the front desk. Montgomery, Prince George's, Frederick, and Charles are not this metro; the Washington program is the right page for them. Cecil County is the Philadelphia-metro exception on the Maryland side. Use the same checklist there, written for those zips rather than for the Beltway.
Adding a chair off the Beltway?
Send the suite address, the treatments you want more of, and say if a Washington-metro zip is already in the book. The note back covers profile, page, and ads for that specific door.
