Dental Marketing in Minnesota

Minnesota's published program is one metro, and the metro is large on purpose. The state count for July 2025 is about 5.83 million, up about 2.2 percent versus an April 2020 base of 5.71 million. The Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington MSA, CBSA 33460, is about 3.79 million, up about 2.7 percent versus about 3.69 million at that 2020 base. About 3.65 million of those residents live on the Minnesota side, roughly 62.6 percent of the state. Pierce and St. Croix Counties in Wisconsin account for the rest of the official boundary.

The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is in Minneapolis. Target, Medtronic, 3M, General Mills, Best Buy, U.S. Bank, and UnitedHealth Group in Minnetonka, plus HealthPartners and Delta Dental of Minnesota, shape what patients expect to see about coverage. This page is the search, Google Business Profile, paid search, website, and review approach for that footprint, and it links to the Minneapolis metro program.

Where Twin Cities Patients Search

West, south, and Wright County

The Minneapolis side and the northwest growth county are different queries:

  • Edina and Wayzata: western suburbs patients often search alongside Lake Minnetonka, not as generic Minneapolis
  • Lake Minnetonka: Minnetonka, Excelsior, and Orono, where the lake name beats the city name in some queries
  • Maple Grove and Plymouth: northwest Hennepin family corridors with their own map pack
  • Bloomington and Eden Prairie: south and southwest job centers along the I-494 loop
  • Wright County: Buffalo, Otsego, and St. Michael in the MSA county that grew about 11.5 percent after 2020

An Edina practice and a Buffalo practice should not share one service-area paragraph. Write the corridor the schedule already shows.

Saint Paul, the east metro, Wisconsin

East of the river the city names change, and one county is in Wisconsin:

  • Highland Park and Grand Avenue: residential Saint Paul neighborhoods that do not rank for a Minneapolis suburb page
  • Woodbury and Cottage Grove: Washington County's east-metro growth, the county up about 7.2 percent since 2020
  • Downtown, North Loop, and Uptown: urban Minneapolis searches that should stay off a suburban landing page
  • St. Croix County, Wisconsin: Hudson and the Wisconsin bank of the river, inside CBSA 33460 but a different state address
  • Frogtown and the East Side: Saint Paul neighborhoods with Hmong and Somali communities, where a second language on the site matches the calls

A Woodbury profile that talks only about Minneapolis misses the Washington County search. A Hudson address needs its own listing because the state on the door is Wisconsin.

Our Approach

Planning Twin Cities Visibility

  1. Step 1

Plan by corridor inside one big MSA

CBSA 33460 holds about 3.79 million people across 13 Minnesota counties and two Wisconsin counties. Someone in Wayzata and someone in Woodbury can both say Twin Cities and still face a long winter drive. Profile text, pages, and ads should name the chairs you fill, not the whole metro.

  2. Step 2

Follow the counties that actually grew

Hennepin County, about 1.28 million, rose about 0.3 percent from April 2020 to July 2025. Ramsey County, about 542,000, fell about 1.9 percent. Wright County climbed about 11.5 percent, to roughly 158,000, and Washington County, Minnesota climbed about 7.2 percent, to roughly 287,000. A new door in a growth county needs town-level pages, not a recycled Minneapolis paragraph.

  3. Step 3

Put employer plans on the first screen

Target, Medtronic, 3M, General Mills, Best Buy, U.S. Bank, and UnitedHealth Group's Minnetonka campus feed a lot of commercial dental coverage. Delta Dental of Minnesota and HealthPartners show up constantly on intake forms. Stating participation, new-patient status, and the booking step saves the phone call.

  4. Step 4

Turn on Wisconsin only when those zips book

Pierce and St. Croix Counties are part of the official metro. Hudson patients sometimes cross for care. We include them in Google Ads only for offices that already see those zip codes on the schedule, using people in or regularly in the area rather than a circle that reaches Rochester or Duluth.

  5. Step 5

Make the review ask part of the visit

Prominence, including how many reviews you have and what they say, is one of Google's published local signals. The front desk can ask in one sentence and approve a short reply the same day, instead of running a quarterly blast.

Multi-Location

Several Doors Inside One Metro

Three Twin Cities locations are still three local businesses in search. Edina, Maple Grove, and Woodbury do not share a Google Business Profile, and they should not share one location URL. Keep the brand story on the hub. Give each address a spoke page with that office's hours, phone, and corridor language.

Point each ad group at the spoke that can see the patient, including a St. Croix County door when the group has one. Groups laying out that model can read multi-location dental group marketing and the location-page guide for several offices.

Working Together

Remote Delivery for Minnesota Offices

There is no Minneapolis studio. Creative, media, and reporting for Minnesota practices are handled from Sacramento and San Mateo. Our team has been building websites since 2014. The proof line we publish is 100+ practices served.

The Twin Cities run on Central Time, two hours ahead of California, so a late morning on the West Coast is early afternoon on Nicollet. Rochester, Duluth, St. Cloud, and Mankato sit outside this metro page. The same search, profile, and ads checklist still applies, scoped to those streets.
